Welcome back!

It’s many months, a few seasons and a couple of lunar eclipses, since I last blogged.

Last year, was a really good year, swimming wise. I “discovered open water swimming”, purchased my first wetsuit and swam with seals.

I also, completed Swimathon Triple 5k! A feat I planned to undertake again this year, for the third year I was invited to be a Swimathon Ambassador.

Thanks, in no small part, to industrial action on the underground and the vagarities of the British Rail Network, I was an hour late, on for the Ambassador day which was again, like previous years, was amazing.

After spending several months training, which had gone, incredibly well, I was ready to take on Swimathon 2020…then came along Corona Virus, Covid 19.

The London Marathon was cancelled, sporting fixture, after sporting fixture, followed suit, including Swimathon, however challenges could still be completed as “My Swimathon”.

On the 23rd March, Boris Johnson addressed the nation, in response swimming pools shut…some inventive swimmers purchased outdoor “swimming pools” and tied a bungee cord to the fence and, in doing so, continued to be able to get their swimming fix. However, living in a block of flats, this isn’t an option open to me!

A Saturday or two, later, I received “my letter” the letter full of phrases tht would probably terrify, the more anxious amongst us. In a nut shell I was one of the 1.5 million destined to spend at least 12 weeks, going no further than my garden gate.

On the plus side, these unprecedented times, have also resulted in a degree of amusement, posties in fancy dress and people doing their weekly shop, fully attired, in a dinosaur costume. How they managed to drive there is beyond me? I however, admit to going to work, in my Frozen PJs!

The subject of Corona virus leads me on to the purpose of me returning to my blog, to offer a record of life, my life, during these unprecedented times, for me to look back on, when it’s all over and too serve as a record for what life was like “during these times”.
